Site Update: We're mostly fixed now

November 08, 2005, 05:23:46 AM by Big P in Site Development.

A little later than expected but both the forums and demo are back in action. Our backup of our old database was so big that it crashed phpmyadmin, and since we had no command line mysql tools to use on our sourceforge database we were reduced to making smaller insert blocks, which christoph wasn't too pleased about doing!

Also while I was updating some other parts of the site I accidentally deleted our news templates, so the site doesnt look quite as pretty as before. Hopefully we'll have these fixed shortly also.

Switching of MySQL services

November 06, 2005, 07:18:43 AM by chrber in Site Development.

As most of you have noticed, the database based section of the PHPNews site were down due to SourceForge's upgrade of their MySQL service.
PHPNews services are now back except the forum. We will hopefully fix this tomorrow, so just be patient a little bit more. grin

PHPNews 1.3.0 out now!

July 25, 2005, 09:28:57 PM by Big P in PHPNews Development.

The PHPNews team are happy to announce the release of PHPNews 1.3.0. This new release addresses a recently found security vulnerability. In order to be vulnerable to this you must have magic_quotes_gpc() disabled (however it is enabled by default). Even so the PHPNews team highly recommend you upgrade ASAP. Have a read of the changelog for the rest of the changes. wink

In other news, development of PHPNews 2.0 is back under way. Expect a news post soon with full details on what to expect in our PHPNews rewrite.
